01 Project Background
Recently, first-tier cities such as Shanghai and Beijing have successively established industry alliances and innovation centers related to embodied intelligent robots, vigorously promoting the development of the embodied intelligent robot industry. As a representative of China's high-tech cities, Shenzhen urgently needs to seize the commanding heights of the embodied intelligent robot industry.
At present, Shenzhen has a high labor cost. Although the robot industry is relatively developed, the level of robot intelligence is still relatively low compared with European and American countries. Vigorously developing embodied intelligent robots can reduce the labor cost of enterprises and is of great significance to the economic, social and technological development of Shenzhen.
Traditional robots rely on manually preset trajectories or rules to perform tasks. They can complete simple, repetitive, and rigid actions, which to some extent alleviates the labor shortage at the bottom level, but they lack autonomous perception and reasoning capabilities and are difficult to handle complex and flexible tasks. In 2023, multimodal large models will enter the historical stage. They have powerful perception and reasoning capabilities, but cannot perform any physical actions.
The "Embodied Intelligence Driven by Multimodal Large Models" project jointly submitted by Ruoyu Technology and Harbin Institute of Technology uses a multimodal large model as the brain and a robot as the torso. It uses the multimodal large model to drive the embodied robot to achieve the effect of 1+1>2.
02 Project Content
This project focuses on the common key problems in the industrialization of service robots, aiming to reveal the common mechanisms of service robots in complex environment perception, complex task planning, complex action execution, etc., and to enable embodied intelligent technology to empower Shenzhen's 20+8 industrial clusters.
This project is the highest-level talent innovation and entrepreneurship project in Shenzhen. It is mainly aimed at basic technology research and development and high-tech projects with significant market potential. The project provides various support to high-level talent teams in business start-up, project research and development, policy support, and results transformation.
According to incomplete statistics, most of the high-tech companies listed in Shenzhen in the past decade, especially those listed on the Science and Technology Innovation Board, have received support from this project.The successful selection of this project demonstrates the solid basic technology research capabilities and pragmatic industrialization implementation capabilities of Ruoyu Technology and Harbin Institute of Technology.
Next, Ruoyu Technology will make full use of government funding and Harbin Institute of Technology’s academic research results, and through the deep integration of “industry, academia and research”, quickly transform cutting-edge technologies into market-oriented products and promote technology from the laboratory to reality.
03 Application Scenario
In the first phase, we will develop embodied robot brains and embodied intelligent hardware platforms for semi-open, vertical special fields. We will also develop highly reliable, explosion-proof refueling robots for special fields such as petroleum and petrochemicals, and encourage customers to shift manpower from dangerous and repetitive work to higher value-added work areas.
In the second phase, we will further enhance the generalization and intelligence of the embodied robot brain for semi-open, vertical and general scenarios.We will cooperate with robot companies in related fields for industrial, logistics, distribution and other scenarios to expand the boundaries of robot capabilities and achieve industry win-win results.
In the third stage, we will develop embodied robot brains that adapt to open scenarios and combine them with more mature and lower-cost embodied intelligent hardware platforms for fully open general scenarios.In the field of home services, we will develop home service robots for home care, housework, laundry and cooking, etc., to create a high-quality and beautiful life for consumers.
